Frequently asked questions
How is the gender pay gap calculated under the Directive?
The gap is the difference between the average pay levels of men and of women, expressed as a percentage of the men's average level (the denominator is fixed by Art. 3 of Directive (EU) 2023/970). It is computed on both the mean and the median, for the whole organisation and for each category of workers.
What happens if the gap exceeds 5%?
A mean difference of at least 5% in any category of workers, not justified by objective gender-neutral criteria and not remedied within 6 months, triggers a joint pay assessment together with workers' representatives (Art. 10).
Is the data I enter stored anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser — no payroll data is sent to or stored on our servers.
The calculator uses exactly the same formulas as the Egalis platform, continuously verified against a shared set of test vectors — the result here is the result in the product. The metrics above are computed on gross annual remuneration; the full platform also computes them on the gross hourly value (Art. 3), normalised to full-time equivalent.
