The Pay Transparency Directive, country by country

State of play: Figures reflect Directive (EU) 2023/970, unchanged — the Commission has ruled out any postponement, and its FAQ of 6 August 2026 confirms the reporting calendar. The transposition deadline of 7 June 2026 has passed: as of October 2026 only Italy, Slovakia, Lithuania, Malta and Greece have complete implementing laws, and most member states are still drafting. Where your country has no implementing law yet, the Directive is the reference; national rules may be stricter once adopted.

Pay Transparency Directive in October 2026: five complete national laws, bills before five parliaments, and the 2027 reporting calendar unchanged

Four months after the transposition deadline of 7 June 2026, five member states have complete implementing laws for Directive (EU) 2023/970 — Italy, Slovakia, Lithuania, Malta and Greece — and Estonia, Poland and Belgium have transposed parts of it. In October the work moved into the parliaments: Bulgaria's lead committee approved its bill on 1 October, Denmark tabled its bill for application on 1 March 2027, Czechia opened its first reading on 16 October, and Romania's Senate rejected its draft on 14 October, leaving the final decision to the Chamber of Deputies. The Commission's infringement packages up to 1 October 2026 contain no proceedings on the Directive. The reporting calendar stays as the Directive sets it: the first reports, covering 2026, are due by 7 June 2027 from employers with 150 or more workers.
